Jury-rigged Blogroll…

Wednesday, 23 January 2008

In another decade or less you’ll be able to sit in front of your computer/TV hybrid and tell it what you want it to do, including arranging and designing your blog, vlog, clog, frog, websites, porn bookmarks etc. with all the capriciousness of women rearranging furniture. It’ll be like having your very own programmer and it will understand plain language.

I’ve ranted before about how turdpress is counterintuitive to use for anyone with little or no HTML experience, but the whole watermelon of rage ended up amounting to a cupful of seeds since it’s free.

I’ve bugged friends and even RTFFAQ and I just can’t get the damned Blogroll to work the “easy way”. According to the controls the links should have appeared via the Blogroll menu setup, but they don’t.

Now I’ve “made-up” my own blogroll with “stolen” code. Seems to work OK…one more tweak and the links will open as new pages instead of taking you away from Meatlights.

Remember how Rev. Mel Gibson had lost faith and was so pissed-off at God in Signs that he wasn’t going to waste even one more second in prayer? No matter how stupid or inane my words get, I don’t want to waste a single second screwing around with code which then fails.

NERDS .

A Democrat or a Republican? Larry Elder answers

Wednesday, 23 January 2008

Mr. Elder does a great job summarizing the differences between the two parties, and they are vast. Far from being clones, the two major parties differ not only in policy but in their approach and conclusions about life and how to go about it.

I often dwell on bitterness and complain about how life sucks and is unfair, sometimes even with flare and elegance, but my core beliefs remain conservative.

For me, conservatism answers much of the chaos of life; because its values evolved over centuries of trial and error, it should not be dismissed as readily as liberals wish it to be.

And now, without further Apu: A Democrat or a Republican?

Bio of Larry Elder here.

Heath Ledger (1978 – 2008)

Wednesday, 23 January 2008

Likable actor who seemed cool in real life. Was good in The Patriot, not yet a star.

Brokeback Mountain is the most authentic, well-acted love story of the past decade, though Ennis Del Mar was a bit of a blond dummy (more great acting).

This will sadden the premiere of The Dark Knight. Shades of Brandon Lee.

He resembled porn ogre Alex Sanders, only (far more) handsome.

I never hope anything happens in threes, good OR bad. Between the forgotten Brad Renfro’s OD and Ledger’s accidental OD, if one more famous young actor dies this will become a media “crisis” and government assholes will try to join the circus, crying out for more stupid, ineffectual laws.

There are horrible people out there probably already claiming God was “angry” at the Gay, and that’s why he was taken.

There are thousands, if not millions or perhaps billions of people who would gladly have traded places with him and lived his exact life, even if they knew they’d die at the same age.

Death is also a force of nature. R.I.P.
